Hometown Flavors Buffet

Sponsored by the Burrell Area Rotary Club

The Burrell Area Rotary Club is pleased to announce the Hometown Flavors Buffet to be held on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at the Lower Burrell VFW from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.   Last year’s event was a huge success, thanks to the 20+ vendors who participated with over $3,000 raised for local charities.  This is an exciting opportunity for local food-related businesses to market their products and services and increase exposure to a large audience while helping the community.

Adults   $15

Children  $8.00 (10 and under)

Tickets available at the door and at Clearview Federal Credit Union.  Live Entertainment all day!  Basket Raffles and 50/50 drawings!

Christina Discello, Director of 'The Community Clothes Closet' (CCC) in New Kensington, spoke to the club about her passion.  The Community Clothes Closet was created to help adults of our community who are experiencing financial hardship.  It is their hope that by providing clothing and personal hygiene essentials at extremely reasonable prices, that our neighbors will be able to expand their limited income.  Christina related that no one is turned away, regardless of their ability to pay.  Customers are able to take their time and shop for the items they need rather that driving to Pittsburgh or Greensburg.  Items on the CCC wish list are quality new or gently used clothing and footwear, volunteers, and financial donations.  CCC also has an immediate and on-going need for diapers as low income recipients can no longer purchase them on their card.  The CCC is located at 319 Tenth Street in New Kensington and it is a social outreach ministry of Mount Saint Peters Parish.  Hours are generally 11AM -1pm Mondays, 6-8PM - Wednesdays, and 10AM-1PM on Saturdays.    Phone number is 724-289-6528

President Sondra inducted two new members into the club in February.  Patrick Coulson, Director of Westmoreland County Community College in New Kensington and Adam Canfield of Care at Home, a non-medical home care agency that helps keep older adults safe, healthy and independent while living in their own home.  The sun rose behind them for dramatic affect.  Welcome!
